Lorna Mitchell - Counsellor (Adults & young people 16+)
Have you ever wondered why you behave the way that you do? Have you ever wondered why you react to things differently to others? Do you want to explore your difficulties in a safe space?

As a therapeutic counsellor, I am person-centred in my approach. This means that I will follow your lead in what you might like to discuss in our sessions together.

Having worked for the charity Mind in various roles, I have had the opportunity to work on the frontline with those struggling with their mental health and wellbeing.

Having the space to talk freely and without judgement can really help to lighten the load. Having a dedicated space to explore your thoughts, feelings and reflections with someone outside of your day-to-day life can help you to understand and get to know yourself better.

My experience
I have worked as a counsellor with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and with adult males in the prison environment. I have also worked as a mental health support worker with people who have been discharged from mental health services.

Within these roles, I have worked with people struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, abuse, neglect, relational difficulties, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and ideation, shame, childhood sexual abuse, self-harm, Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD/BPD), isolation, and more.

I also work in facilitating support groups for those experiencing relational difficulties and emotional dysregulation.

I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and am trained in online and telephone counselling. I also have training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
