Hugh Hammond - Counsellor in Training
Hi, I’m Hugh. If you’re reading this, then you’re likely thinking that you need help for something that’s troubling you in your life and are wondering if therapy might help. You might also be feeling a little anxious or unsure about seeking therapy. You might wonder if your problems are that bad, feel worried about being judged, or think there's something wrong with you because you should be able to cope on your own.
Those thoughts and feelings are normal and, while it’s hard to take the first step, the good news is that therapy can be a very positive and rewarding experience.
I’m a trainee psychotherapist with the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. I take a relational approach to therapy as part of my training; all that means is that our relationship will be an important part of how we work together. So, I aim to build a safe and supportive relationship with you, offer you a space that’s just for you, and, hopefully, in time, help you to feel a bit better.
My voluntary experience providing listening support for suicidal people has taught me the true value of offering a compassionate ear and a consistent empathic presence, and I hope to do the same for you.
I am a trainee member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) available to work with adults 18+.
