Edak Effiom MSc - Family & Systemic Psychotherapist (Adults & young people 8+, individuals, couples, families)
I am a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist and have worked with couples, children and families within safeguarding and mental health contexts for twenty five years. This includes 5 years’ experience working in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).
When you make the decision to talk to a total stranger about your difficulties, it can sometimes provoke anxiety. However, as your therapist, my goal is to not make you feel judged. I endeavour to provide a safe and confidential space for you to express those difficult feelings that, previously, you may never have been able to. My aim is for you to feel connected with aspects of your self which might make you feel more able to explore the more complex issues of your life experience. In this way, you can make better sense of your world and of your way of being and interacting with the connections you make within that world.
I work sensitively with individuals, couples, groups and families using systemic principles integrated with aspects from other models such as DBT, CBT, attachment-based, trauma-focused, and solution-focused therapy.
The issues I deal with include those related to relationships, anxiety, low mood, depression, suicidality, self-harm, self-esteem, trauma, spirituality, identity, and attachment. I display empathy and authenticity so clients feel valued and empowered and I engage in paid supervision to ensure I deliver a quality service to clients.
I am a registered member of the Association for Family and Systemic Psychotherapy in the UK (AFT) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
My current fees are £60.00 per 50-minute session for individuals; £70.00 for couples and £80.00 for family sessions. I offer therapy sessions in person or online via video and am available most weekday evenings. I look forward eagerly to hearing from you.
