Julie Laugere - Creative Arts Counsellor
I am a Creative Arts Counsellor working with people facing challenges such as abuse, anxiety, trauma, or relationship issues. Through creative processes like painting, clay, movement or sand, I help people to explore difficult emotions that are hard to articulate and enable self-understanding and positive change.
I am a warm and person-centred counsellor who provides a safe space for self-expression. I am passionate about creating inclusive environments where everyone can thrive. My integrative approach combines various therapeutic modalities including humanistic, psychodynamic, and other forms of psychotherapy - all tailored to meet each client’s specific needs.
In addition to my counselling work, I am also an experienced teacher who has worked in mainstream education and therapeutically in alternative provisions with pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. I have also worked with pupils who are neurodiverse and with those from pupil premium and looked-after backgrounds. Although I am currently not working one-to-one with children, I am able to work with parents.
You do not need to be good at art. Whatever your experience of art is - and regardless of how confident you feel - working creatively through the arts in counselling is open to everyone.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have a full DBS, up-to-date safeguarding training, and offer both short- and long-term therapy.
