Emma Alabaster - Intake Counsellor
I am a qualified counsellor with a BA Honours degree in Counselling. I qualified in 2010 and am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
As the Intake Counsellor for BodhiSpace, I am your first point of contact and I look forward to speaking with you. I will offer you a brief initial consultation over the phone which will help me to place you with the most appropriate therapist for your needs.
I began my first counselling course in 2004 and, since qualifying as a counsellor in 2010, have worked with clients who include young people, adult individuals, couples, and groups. My way of working is creative and relational, and I use my own 'felt sense' of the client and their world in order to inform my clinical thinking.
As a counsellor, I have worked within several organisations including schools and charities, one of which was Victim Support. While at Victim Support, I worked with clients who had been affected by sexual violence, domestic abuse, hate crime, murder and manslaughter.
In my own private practice I have seen clients with many different presenting issues such as trauma, attachment issues, mental health issues – including anxiety and depression – anger, loss and bereavement. I have also worked with clients who are neuro-diverse.
As I move into a new phase of my practice I will be embarking on a Supervision course in the autumn of 2022 and – as a Trainee Supervisor – will be taking on supervisees.
As a counsellor, I continue to work creatively with young people, adults, couples and groups.
